Hello there,

Thank you to all the NH patients who came into the office this past weekend. It was so good to see all of you and treat.  I just sent out another email to all of you telling you the next dates for the NH visit.  Please contact me if you would like to make an appointment.  Times are already booking up as I type this.

I would like to remind the NY patients that I will be at a seminar coming up.  Please check the office calendar for that date and for other information regarding that weekend.

I just went myself to a great acupuncturist named Jordan Su in Delamar.  I truly found her treatment to be excellent and felt incredible after the treatment session.  She included not only the acupuncture but also some Chakra energy work and acupressure as well. If you are interested in this type of medicine please call her at 518-364-5934.  She is a licensed acupuncturist who has studied and practiced in China.

September is going to be a busy month but always remember to make for fun in your life.  In NH the Deerfield Fair is coming and I can't wait to go to that. It's going to be so much fun.  We go every year for the day and spend time with our friends eating foods we shouldn't eat, seeing the dog herding show and enjoying the NH area.  So go out and make some fun!

Hello everyone! Vacation was excellent and coming back to work is always fun.  I want to inform the NH patients that I have sent out notices of the next trip to NH. There are a few appointments times left as of this minute.  If anyone is interested in those appointments let us know via phone, email, or text. I will let everyone in the NH know the September visit date when I see all of you.

I would like to inform everyone in the New York office that I will be out of the office Friday  September 24th due to a 3 day Seminar I will be attending on all sorts of good topics including dealing with vertigo. I will let everyone know all the good stuff I find out from all these seminars.

Hope everyone is having a great day!  Remember to take care of yourself, get adjusted, and have fun!

July 21st 2010

So this past weekend I spend time at my chiropractic college for a long weekend of seminars which was fun and interesting. It was great being back there and seeing peers as well as old professors.  I can't believe it's been over 11 years since I was attending classes there and doing my internships. It's a great place to study and a beautiful area to live.

I hope everyone enjoyed the last newsletter that was sent out.  I'm currently working on a new one to be mailed in the near future. I want to congratulate Candy for winning the biofreeze by answering the 4 questions in the newsletter regarding chiropractic. Good job!  Look for another challenge in the next newsletter to win the new Latella Chiropractic T-shirts. They are selling for $14.00. If anyone would like to order one just let me know.  I'll post a picture of what they look like on here.  I had three patients come in for their treatments all wearing the shirts they purchased. It's a cute picture and it was fun that they did that.

I will post in the office and in the newsletter the up and coming visit to NH which will be very soon and also my August vacation as well as the other visits to NH in September. Please look for those dates and mark them on your calendar. Because of the time away from the office I have started to work some Thursdays and Saturdays if needed to help NY patients get their appointments they need.

The summer is going by fast and the humid weather is not my favorite thing to deal with but you have to enjoy each day you have.  Life is so short and each day is a gift in my mind.  I would like to wish those patients a happy birthday in August. You know who you are!

Remember to check out my Latella Chiropractic facebook page for more updates and articles regarding health. Please remember to come in to be adjusted to support your body and prevent back aches before they get to bad.

Hello Everyone!  It's been a while since I have updated the news page. Time flies by so fast when you are working and living your life. It's been quite busy here in New York but that's always a good thing.  I want to thank the NH patients for a great weekend. I just got back to NY and already miss being in New England. It's such a beautiful place to be and experience. The ocean always calls to me.

I have spoken to most of the NH patients about the next visit there. I am taking appointments already and will try and schedule everyone the best I can.  I had a question this weekend if I was taking new patients in NH and I'm currently not doing that. In the future if things change I will let you know for sure. Life is always changing so you never know what might happen, right?

I will be attending a great weekend seminar coming up in July and will update all of you on all the great information I learn. I'm very much looking forward to it.

I also have updated the NY calendar in the office for all patients here to know when I'll be in NH and on vacation this summer. Please check it out and because of some of the vacation I will be working on some Saturdays.

Please check out our Latella Chiropractic facebook page where I put interesting information on there that you might not know about regarding vitamins, chiropractic and so much more.

Have a great day and I would like to say Happy Birthday to my niece. It's a pleasure knowing you.

What an incredible week I had last week and into the weekend. I want to thank all the NH patients who came in to be treated last week. I know it wasn't the normal days for me to come and be there but it worked out really great. With my partner in crime traveling so much my schedule has changed and will change in the future. Thank you to the NH patients for always understanding.  I want to thank Dr. Crosser as well for allowing me to work during his normal hours. I had the best time and always do working in that office. Such great people!

I wanted to update those patients who asked how the mini vacation went after working. It was amazing and my family and I always love staying near the ocean. The weather wasn't the best but we didn't care at all. We want to thank those friends who traveled out to spend time with us at the ocean. My face hurts still from laughing so hard and trying to catch my breath. Thank you for that! You all are such incredible people.

I wanted to share also that a very good friend of mine has opened the Mustard Seed Cafe which is out of the First Congregational Church in Farmington NH. Click here for a map. The meals are free and there is a basket where donations are accepted. The dinners are twice a month. Yesterday the meal included a turkey dinner with stuffing, bread, and salad. Join them each month and give back to your community.

I have told some of the NH patients the next date I will be back to the area. I have posted it in the NY office for the NY patients to be aware of.  I am taking appointments for those days so you can call, email, or text me and I'll put you in for the time you want.

Thanks again and see some of you real soon.

I want to just say how beautiful mornings are in NH. Just incredible. It's so great to be here and I want to thank all the patients who came to the office this long weekend. I really appreciate all the things people brought me and I appreciate all of you!  A special shout out to the Chowder and Marching Society along with the old Jaycee gang who made me laugh harder than I've laughed in a while. What a great night and thank you to each and every one of you.

As I have told most of the NH patients the next date and schedule has changed due to an unexpected  trip to Atlanta Georgia. Please look for the email soon that will explain the change in dates and times. I think it will work out better for some patients and I will accommodate everyone the best I can. I want to thank Dr. Crosser again for being so generous in allowing me to use his office, thank you!

I hope everyone is having a great Sunday. If I don't speak to some of you have a great Easter with your family.

Hello!  There will be a sale on Biofreeze roll on's when you mention reading this sale on the website. Buy one get one half price. Biofreeze is an excellent lotion that helps to decrease your pain, relax the muscle spasm and make you feel better over all.

Please note on our office calendar the dates we will be out of our office in March and April for visits to NH and also for vacation as well next month.  If you have any questions about the dates please email us or check out the calendar in the office which shows the times blocked out for both months. Because of the hectic schedule the NY office will be open on some Saturdays to accommodate those patient who are in need of chiropractic care.

Please remember to scatter kindness in this world. It's important in my opinion to be kind to each other. Think of the other person and what they might be going through. Take your life in...be present in your life and in the moment...make yourself truly happy. No one but yourself will do that for you.

I know a lot of you out there have had experiences in life that you feel have taken you down emotionally or physically. The first step is to take care of yourself health wise, get adjusted and work on yourself to be the best you that you can be.  As I have said so many times on here let go of the past, let go of the anger and sadness and grief and thrive in the happy moments of your life and make great memories. Once you let go of those negative emotions your body will feel better! I've seen it so many times with patients.

Some nice quotes for the day!

Let go. Why do you cling to pain? There is nothing you can do about the wrongs of yesterday. It is not yours to judge. Why hold on to the very thing which keeps you from hope and love?
-- Leo Buscaglia

Our most basic instinct is not for survival but for family. Most of us would give our own life for the survival of a family member, yet we lead our daily life too often as if we take our family for granted.

March 22nd 2010

This was writing by Dr.
Randy Pausch. I feel that it's a needed reminder for all of us which we should always go back to and remember. Have a great day!

1. Never underestimate the importance of having fun. I'm dying and
I'm having fun. And I'm going to keep having fun every day, because
there's no other way to play it.
  2. We cannot change the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand.
  3. We don't beat the Reaper by living longer. We beat the Reaper by
living well.
  4. It's not about how to achieve your dreams, it's all about
leading your life. If you lead your life in a right way, karma will
take care of itself. And dreams will come to you.
  5. If I only had three words of advice, they would be, tell the
truth. If I got three more words, I'd add, all the time.
  6. The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not
there to keep us out; the brick walls are there to give us a chance to
show how badly we want something. The brick walls are there to stop
the people who don't want it badly enough. They are there to stop the
other people!
  7. Be good at something. It makes you valuable. Have something to
bring to the table, because that will make you more welcome.
  8. Better to fail spectacularly than do something mediocre.
  9. Experience is what you get when you didn't get what you wanted.
 10. When there's an elephant in the room introduce him.
 11. Be prepared. Luck is truly where preparation meets opportunity.
 12. Find the best in everybody. Wait long enough, and people will
surprise and impress you. It might even take years, but people will
show you their good side. Just keep waiting.
 13. Apologize when you screw up and focus on other people, not on yourself.
 14. Don't complain. Just work harder. That's a picture of Jackie
Robinson. It was in his contract not to complain, even when the fans
spit on him.
 15. Get a feedback loop and listen to it. Your feedback loop can be
this dorky spreadsheet thing I did, or it can just be one great man
who tells you what you need to hear. The hard part is the listening to
it.
 16. When you see yourself doing something badly and nobody's
bothering to tell you anymore, that's a very bad place to be. Your
critics are your ones telling you they still love you and care.
 17. If you're going to do anything that pioneering you will get
those arrows in the back, and you just have to put up with it.
 18. Fundamentals, fundamentals, fundamentals. You've got to get the
fundamentals down because otherwise the fancy stuff isn't going to
work.
 19. I probably got more from that dream and not accomplishing it
than I got from any of the ones that I did accomplish.
 20. I'll take an earnest person over a hip person every day, because
hip is short term. Earnest is long term.

Hello to everyone reading this.

I have sent out reminders again for the NH patients.  You get to see me again so soon, right? lol  Most of the appointment times are booked but if you need an appointment I might be able to fit you in. If anyone needs any Sinus Buster, Herb Pain Terminator patches or anything vitamin related please let me know before I leave to travel.

It will be a very busy April with seminars that I plan on attending, working in NH, and happily working here at the NY office. Please check the schedule in the office here in NY for those dates and for the NH patients I have sent out the date for April for you. I also have put up on face book more information on the dates as well as cool information you might be interested in reading regarding health.

I also want to remind everyone that there will be a Thacher Park celebration on March 27th and 28th.  Check out the information on the facebook page for it, see below. They are having music, food, and entertainment at the event. Should be a lot of fun!

You also can go to this website to find out who your representative is in your area to speak to them about the closing of the park.

It's a very important cause to support.

I would like to say Happy Birthday to Lynn...you know which one you are! I also want to point out that being adjusted and taking care of your nervous system is so important. Get a check up once a month at least to make sure you are in alignment!

Have a great day!

I have sent out emails a week or so ago to the New Hampshire patients about the next couple of visits for treatment.  I also sent out another email this morning for all of you.  Take your time and read and think about what I said in there. I would love your feedback on what I said.

Have a great day and remember to have fun with your life. Make it the best life you can have.

I found these great tips for rebuilding a relationship whether it's with a parent, a family member or a friend who you want to connect with again. Wanted to share this with you.

Tips for Rebuilding

1. Express to your family member that you desire to be closer. Seek agreement from them that they want the same thing.

2. Apologize for past hurts and mistakes. But make sure you are sincere about your apology.

3. Give it time. Don't rush. It takes time to build relationships and time to rebuild them. You cannot return to intimacy overnight, so expect to build back closeness slowly over time. It may take a few years.

4. Rediscover who this person is. Be curious about them as though they were a stranger. Seek new ways of perceiving them. We forget to see our family members as others see them. Look closely.

5. Notice when your walls go up. Take note of what triggers your walls to go up and consciously work to keep the walls lowered. You have built up very old strategies to deal with your family. They may not serve you now. You must now be willing to be a little vulnerable. Reestablishing intimacy means opening yourself up to being vulnerable. Intimacy and vulnerability walk hand in hand. That's what closeness is about, close enough that there is always a potential of having your feelings be hurt.

6. Be aware of your hot buttons. This person knows how to push them. Don't fall into old ways of reacting. And don't push their hot buttons either. You can control how you behave with them and how you react to them. If they try to push your button, don't fall for it. Ignore it and it will pass. If they keep trying, point out to them that it contradicts the goal of being closer.

7. Share who you are. Just because this person has known you for a long time, doesn't mean they know who you are now. Share your authentic self with them!! Remind them that you are not the same person as you were at the age of 12.

February 5th 2010

It's hard to believe that it's already February and we're well into the winter months. Time does go by fast especially if you're busy with the day to day things in your life.

I want to let the New Hampshire patients know that I have sent out emails as to the next NH visit. There are a number of open appointment times that are available.  If you would like to schedule your time please call or email us at the office. Remember that with any visit in the winter all is subject to winter storms. Thank you for always being so understanding with any change that does occur because of the weather.

I wanted to point out that we do carry a Irwin Natural Sleep PM which is all natural for those patients needing a more restful sleep. It's a great herb combination that aids in relaxing the body to promote a deeper sleep. Remember when we do get a good nights sleep our body heals and we have more energy for the next days activities. If anyone has any questions about this natural supplement just give us a call.

I have also opened up a group for Latella Chiropractic on facebook for patients.  This will be a group where we share news, updated info and things of interest. Please check it out if you are on facebook.

Have a great day and start this year thinking of your health and taking care of yourself well. You're the only one who can do that.

R. Latella, DC

January 8th 2010

I hope everyone had a great holiday and is starting off the new year right.  I hope you made one of your new years resolutions to make you health number one.  It's such an important thing to take care of and some people do take if for granted till it's to late.  I wish for all of you that you would think about getting adjusted once a month at least to get your spine back into alignment and your nervous system happy.  Remember that the nervous system controls every cell, organ, and tissue in the body to tell it what to do. It's very important to keep it functioning correctly for you to feel great.

The emails and phone calls to the New Hampshire patients have gone out.  There are 2 times slots left and if anyone wishes to take one of those slots please contact me at the office or on the office cell phone. I would be happy to give you that time slot.

I hope everyone has a great day and remember to have as much fun as you can, try new things, and go outside of your comfort zone.  Live your life as you want to live and let go of fears. Fears can really hold you back from doing what you always wanted to do.

Laugher Really Is the Best Medicine
It's a well-known saying that may actually be true, according to a number of studies. Evidence suggests laughter is a true health promoter, helping reduce stress, boost your heart rate, increase circulation, and even burn calories.

For example, laughter helps combat stress, which is well-known to decrease immune-system response. Less stress means a better immune system, making your body less prone to infection and disease. Reducing stress levels also makes it easier to fall asleep, and as has been discussed in this publication on several occasions, poor and/or inadequate sleep can contribute to a whole host of negative health consequences.

But how could laughter possibly burn calories? It's actually a simple concept, if you think about it: When you laugh, your body moves in various ways; muscles throughout the body stretch and, depending on the strength of the laugh, your abdomen and other areas of the body may even contract repeatedly. That's a workout and a laugh all in one!

It all boils down to finding ways to relax, reduce your stress levels, and enjoy life - a great recipe for a healthy, happy life for you and your whole family.

December 22nd 2009

Hello and Merry Christmas to everyone reading this blog today. I wanted to wish everyone a happy New Year as well.

To me it doesn't seem like Christmas is on Friday because of being on a great-once in a lifetime road trip vacation. Thanks to my family for sending us on that trip.  Very kind and thoughtful as all of you are..always. I will post a couple of pictures for those who aren't on face book to check out the pictures... per your requests. It was a really fun trip and everyone should remember to try and have as much fun as they work. Less stress equals better health.

As a reminder I do have gift certificates in the office in case you would like to give that to a loved one as a great Christmas gift. Also Biofreeze roll ons and spray make great stocking stuffers as do vitamins.

Please remember that we will be closed on Christmas and on New Years. A Happy Birthday to those in December, you know who you are!

Have a exciting and fun week and remember all those holiday traditions that your family holds close to their hearts. I know every year I make a Italian dish my grandmother Kitty Latella always made.  It reminds me of such happy times at her house on Christmas eve. Enjoy each and every moment this year with your family and friends. Don't take it for granted and appreciate each other and respect each other.

Merry Christmas

The New York office is again open after being closed for a extended vacation. Please note that we will be closed on Christmas and on New Years. I hope everyone will have a great holiday. It's come up so fast this year and we already had our first real storm which I missed out on..darn! lol .

With the winter months coming up we ask that you please be really careful shoveling and clearing out snow. It can be brutal on the back if you're hurting already. So come in and be treated to keep yourself in alignment and out of pain.

We hope everyone has a great Christmas. Thank you for all the cards I've received so far. They're all so beautiful and cute. It's a great time of year especially because you can spend these days with your family and loved ones always remembering the true meaning of this time of year.

November 30th 2009

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving holiday. It went fast but was really relaxing and fun. I guess when you're in charge of cooking the meal it does go by very fast because of all you have to do.  It was so good to spend time with family and hear from other members.   It's officially the start of the Christmas season for me since I just heard "Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer"  on the office radio.

I want to let all the NY patients know that I do have the new Biofreeze spray with MSM in stock. For those patients who wanted to stock up on them for holiday gifts. It's one of the best gifts you can give during the holidays!

Please note that I have sent out emails as to the NH schedule. If anyone has any questions there will be another email and newsletter sent out in the near future. If you would like to make an appointment please call, text, or face book me.

Have a great day!

R. Latella, DC

   November 16th 2009

Thank you to all the NH patients who came into the office to be treated. I appreciate all of you and it was so good to see you as well.  Don't think I ever don't appreciate all of you.

I also want to point out that the office cell phone is changing. For those who like to text me about appointments I have sent out text's with the new number. If you would like the new one please give me a call at the office and I would be happy to give it to you.

Also Latella Chiropractic will be closed on Thanksgiving day and  black Friday. Please make a note of that so you can book your appointments ahead of time to feel great for the holiday. I wish everyone a great holiday coming up. It's the start of the holiday season and winter will be upon us soon.

So please take care of yourself, take your vitamins and keep yourself strong.  Remember to be thankful this Thanksgiving day. Thankful for your health, for your friends and for your family. I see so many people on face book expressing what they are thankful for this holiday and it makes me smile. It's so good to see the unconditional, supportive  love people have for each other and the appreciation for life and how they want to live it.

Here is a great quote

As we express our gratitude, we must never forget that the highest appreciation is not to utter words, but to live by them.  ~John Fitzgerald Kennedy

November 9th 2009

Hello everyone! Hope everyone had a great Halloween. It was cold and rainy here which made it a bit uncomfortable for the little trick or treaters but it was fun overall. The local town we live in always has a haunted house which is so much fun to go through. Thank you to all the fire fighters for creating such a great place to be scared.

I have sent out additional notices to the NH patients to discuss the future dates that I will be coming back to NH. As I mentioned in the email and the newsletters that I sent out I will be changing the normal schedule and all of you know the reason behind it. If you don't please email me and I will discuss it further.   If anyone needs Biofreeze, Sinus Buster, PainTerminator patches or any other supplement please let me know and I will bring that along.

I want to welcome Dr. Faria to Rochester NH. She's a new chiropractor who has opened up a office on route 108 across from the airport. She graduated from New York Chiropractic College this year and is having a open house this coming Saturday at her office located at 169 Rochester Hill Road. The open house will be from 4-7 pm and she would love to have people stop by. Her phone number is 603-948-2121.

I want to thank my neighbors (and you know who you are) for the link they sent me at the office to the security cameras that are in our little neighborhood. It's a lot of fun being able to watch your own house online in real time. To see the curtains moving from the dogs looking out the windows is surreal. It's amazing how technology has come so far. I'm watching right now from the office!

Happy Birthday to those patients in November.

I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving Day. I myself am cooking for my family this year which should be fun. So much to look forward to coming up and to be thankful for. Just remember to appreciate your health, your life, your family, and the love you have in your life. We are nothing without those things in our life.  Happy Holidays!

October 13th 2009

Just wanted to let everyone know that the town is ripping up the sidewalk to put down a new one. So this is going to make things interesting for the office. The nice calm atmosphere is temporarily gone and on Thursday and Friday the office will be closed due to the sidewalk being poured. I want everyone in NY to be careful if you're coming into the office today and please call me if you have any questions about the situation.  There is no parking on the street currently but as always there is parking in the back where the Latella Chiropractic signs are posted.  Please note that you can also use the driveway near Stewarts to get to the back parking lot. I'm sorry for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience with this situation.

I want to thank all the patients in NH for the past weekend. It was so good seeing everyone and treating there. As I noted in the newsletter I just sent out. I have posted the next dates for coming back.

Have a happy and healthy day.

September 15th 2009

I want to thank all the NH patients who came into be treated this past weekend. It was great to see all of you.  Thank you to the patients who brought me to eat Indian food for the first time. That was interesting and really a lot of fun. Thank you.  I will send out emails soon to the next dates I will be there. I may come longer like this time because it did work out well. I as always thank Dr. Crosser for allowing me to work out of his office.

September 8th 2009

Good Morning! We would like to remind everyone that we do carry the new biofreeze spray with MSM in it. THe MSM helps decrease any inflammation you might have. The feedback from patients who have used it is very positive.

A reminder to the New York patients that anytime we are in the New Hampshire office or on extended vacation (which will be coming up in the future so please check for those dates in the office) you can contact Dr. Cerniglia at 374-8039 on Mohawk Ave or Dr. Ray at 393-2566  on Union Street if you are in need of emergency care while we're in the other office. They are both excellent chiropractors.

As a reminder also please don't wait till you're in pain to come into the office. Pain is the last thing to show up when you're having a problem.  Catch it before it gets to that point and keep your spine healthy and happy by being adjusted. Don't you want to feel better?

Have a great day. Happy September! Also Happy Birthday to those patients in September who will be celebrating.

It's always good to think positive and remember that health is such a precious thing. Without our health where would you be?  Here are some quotes that I feel are very appropriate for some patients, friends, family, and people that have drifted away.

Enjoy!

"I am nothing special; just a common man with common thoughts, and I've led a common life. There are no monuments dedicated to me and my name will soon be forgotten. But in one respect I have succeeded as gloriously as anyone who's ever lived: I've loved another with all my heart and soul; and to me, this has always been enough".-Noah-The Notebook.....

"True friendship is like sound health; the value of it is seldom known until it be lost."
- Charles Caleb Colton

Sometimes being a friend means mastering the art of timing. There is a time for silence. A time to let go and allow people to hurl themselves into their own destiny. And a time to prepare to pick up the pieces when it's all over.
-- Gloria Naylor

"You cannot teach people anything. You can only help them discover it within themselves". - Galileo

"A real friend is one who walks in when the rest of the world walks out."

"Family means sharing inadequacies, imperfections and feelings with each other and still loving each other. But even when you set out to love, you may not always be a likable person. And when you're not perfect, forgiveness for yourself and others becomes important. Then you get up the next day and start again. It is a process, like the opening of a bud. It is a flowering, a blooming, and blossoming". - Bernie Siegel

Hello to all of you reading our news blog today.  Below is a great article about feeding your brain what it needs to function better.

I would like to let the NH patients know that I have sent out emails and made calls to inform you of the next visit to NH. Most of the regular times are booked but since I'll be there earlier the next visit I  do have Friday morning times available now.  You can email me, get a hold of me on facebook, text me on the office cell or just call us. We can work out a time for you to come into the office and be treated.

For those patients who suffer from fatigue, dry skin, muscle spasms and joint pain. You might have a thyroid that isn't functioning properly. If your adjustments aren't holding and you just can't seem to get out of your own way that might be the problem, especially if it runs in your family. It's so important to be tested by your medical physician. A great website to check out more info on the thyroid is www.thyroidpower.com

Have a great weekend and just remember to come in and be adjusted, have as much fun as you can in one day and tell your loved ones how much they mean to you everyday.

Feed Your Brain Article

Brain health should be at the top of your list of health and wellness priorities; after all, you can live without a kidney, spleen, teeth, hair and other assorted elements of your body, but without a brain - well, there's not much you can do after that. And you can't get a brain transplant (at least not yet), as you can with other organs and appendages, which means it's your job to find ways to keep your brain as fit as possible for as long as possible. Here are three brain-friendly nutrients to keep in mind as part of your daily diet: Omega-3 fatty acids are associated with various health benefits; with respect to the brain, DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) is the major polyunsaturated fatty acid found in the brain and is linked to brain development and function. Good sources of omega-3s include seafood (especially cold-water fish) and supplements; manufacturers also have begun adding DHA to some dairy products.

Choline, a water-soluble B vitamin, is a chemical building block of every cell in the body; that makes it a pretty important nutrient. Evidence suggests choline may improve memory and protect against senility in old age. Good sources of choline include egg yolks, skim milk, soybeans and lentils.

Folic acid, otherwise known as vitamin B9, is well-known for its effect on fetal development: adequate daily folic acid intake can reduce the risk of birth defects such as cleft palate/lip. It's also great for improving cognitive function (your ability to think clearly and remember things), suggesting it may help protect against the development of Alzheimer's. Spinach, asparagus and avocado are all good sources of folic acid; many cereals are also fortified with B9, and it is a staple of many daily multivitamin supplements.

Hello everyone! Hope you are having a great summer day with lots of sun and fun.

Good article on Balance.

According to the National Institutes of Health, broken hips account for up to 300,000 hospital admissions per year, many of which are directly attributable to falling. Balance is key throughout life, but particularly when you're older because it's more difficult to recover. Here are three NIH-recommended exercises to help improve your balance; to learn more, visit www.nihseniorhealth.gov. Side Leg Raises: Stand behind a table or chair, holding it for balance, and slowly lift one leg to the side (6-12 inches), keeping your back and both of your legs straight. Hold, lower, and repeat with other leg. Do 8-15 reps per side.

Heel-to-Toe Walk: Position the heel of one of your feet in front of the toes of your opposite foot each time you take a step. Your heel and toes should touch or almost touch. This can be a little tricky, so start slow and avoid close confines.

One-Foot Stand: As the name of this exercise suggests, stand on one foot for as long as you can without relying on any support. You should be prepared to lean, wobble or fall back to two feet at any time. Repeat while standing on the other foot. Record your times for each side and track improvement.

Have a great week !

Hello and thank you for coming here to read the blog.  I would like to let the New Hampshire patients I have sent emails out for the next couple of dates. Please let me know if you would like an appointment. There is one space left for anyone who would like.  Just email me or call the office, send a message on facebook, or text on the office cell phone.  Many ways to get your message to us!

I have added a couple more links on the link page for cool businesses so please check them out.

Just a reminder that we now carry the Biofreeze 4 oz spray with the MSM in it. It's a nice way to relieve pain and take care of the inflammation that you might have in a area.

I would like to say Happy Birthday to those who have birthdays this month. You know who you are!

Have a great day and remember to come in to be adjusted to promote your good health.

July 22nd 2009

This past weekend was a very fast paced and fun weekend. The traffic to New Hampshire was incredible and a bit much but I trust that the patients there understand that if I get there a little late it's only because of the 495 and traffic. With everyone going on vacation to New Hampshire and Maine the road becomes extremely congested.

Since so much is going on here in New York I will let the New Hampshire patients know for sure what dates I will be back to treat. As most of you know the times on Friday might change because of the change going on here which is both exciting and a mystery at this point. I will send out a email soon once I know for sure the schedule etc.

I would like to welcome all the new patients in the New York office. It's been a pleasure meeting all of you and I look forward to helping you in any way I can through chiropractic. Welcome to the office! Thank you to those who have referred their friends and loved ones. I appreciate your confidence in me as a chiropractor.

I have had a number of calls regarding the cost of Biofreeze and what kind I carry in the office. I have the 3 0z. roll on which retails here for $13.00 a bottle and I also have the new Biofreeze spray with MSM which retails for $14.00.  I hope this helps with your questions.

Lastly I would like to thank the Chowder and Marching Society, and the Ya Ya's (plus a couple new members) for a very fun and surprising birthday party. I really appreciate and love all of you for doing that for me.  Friendships are so important in your life for happiness and peace I feel.  Having a great support system is key for your health and well being.

Here are some quotes about happiness.

A truly happy person is one who can enjoy the scenery while on a detour.  ~Author Unknown

Give a man health and a course to steer, and he'll never stop to trouble about whether he's happy or not.  ~George Bernard Shaw

Often people attempt to live their lives backwards; they try to have more things, or more money, in order to do more of what they want, so they will be happier.  The way it actually works is the reverse.  You must first be who you really are, then do what you need to do, in order to have what you want.  ~Margaret Young

I cannot even imagine where I would be today were it not for
that handful of friends who have given me a heart full of joy.
Let's face it, friends make life a lot more fun.
                                                                         - Charles R. Swindoll

Have a great day! Have a great vacation if you are on one. Make it what you want and live with respect, empathy, and truth.

July 8th 2009

I hope everyone had a great 4th of July and a safe one at that. The summer is under way and hopefully we'll have a little more sun than rain coming up in the near future.

I want to remind the NH patients that I will be traveling to the NH office this month. Most of you know the dates this summer that I will be there. If you want to make an appointment please email, text the office cell and not the office number, or give the office a call. There are some times left for the next couple of dates coming up.

I have started to carry a couple new products in the office. Biofreeze has a nice spray with MSM in it. It's selling for $14.00 in the office.  Some of you have seen Biofreeze selling in CVS and asked me about it. I was informed that CVS is going to stop selling it because it was always meant to be sold through doctors.

Also I am carrying the Pain Terminator herb patches for pain, muscle spasms and more. It's a great product as I've said before to put right on the location of your pain and helps with decreasing the inflammation.

I want to thank everyone who comes here to read the blog including my good friend Deanna from Florida. I appreciate all your positive comments regarding the website and look forward to a future visit with you coming up this summer.

I would also like to thank everyone for your support with all the changes that are taking place right now. The constant they say... is change, isn't it! You have to accept that and roll with it.  I myself like change because it changes things up and keeps you out of a rut, keeps your mind growing and your soul happy.

Please remember to take care of yourself and come into the office to be adjusted. When you feel pain of any type it's your bodies way of saying stop..there is something going on and you need to address. it. The best way in my opinion is to take care of your nervous system and spinal joints. The best way to do it is to get a chiropractic treatment.

Have a great day and remember to have as much fun as possible.

Rehab the Right Way With the exception of professional athletes, few people know where to turn after suffering an injury that limits their ability to exercise, perform daily activities - or in worse-case scenarios, even move. The rehabilitation process may seem complicated, but it's actually fairly straightforward (depending on the injury) once you know the basics. So, are you ready for a little insight into how to rehab right? 1.Control the pain naturally. To do this, some say use ice; some say use heat. Just remember one thing: If you are exercising and experience pain and swelling afterward, use ice to take the swelling down. If you feel your muscles are too stiff and painful before you start exercising, use a few minutes of heat to warm up the area. Using ice or heat during rehab is a good way to control pain and discomfort. 2.Increase flexibility. Everyone is infatuated with stretching. However, in some cases, it may not be the most important part of your rehab. There are a few things to remember with stretching. Don't try to become the next Olympic gymnast. Overstretching is just as bad as not stretching. Also, it's not just about stretching the areas where you're experiencing problems. It's also about stretching the tight muscles around the area, because the whole area works together. 3.Improve endurance. When we think of rehab, most people think of lifting more weights and getting stronger. However, in some cases, your success in rehab has more to do with doing something at less intensity, but improving your ability to do it over and over again. 4.Regain balance. Regardless of whether you have ankle, knee, or low back pain, or even headaches, balance training is very important. The basic balance progression involves doing things on stable surfaces first and then moving to unstable surfaces. 5.Develop strength. This is probably the most popular goal of all rehab programs. However, make sure you build up your strength while always staying within weight ranges that do not elicit pain. The "no pain, no gain" mentality should be abandoned. Also remember to work on balance and flexibility with strength, not just by itself. 6.Functional training. This just means practicing activities you did every day prior to the injury. For workers, this means practicing how to lift, or even how to sit properly if your job is sedentary. For athletes, this means practicing the movements of your sports. Keep in mind that these are just guidelines to increase your knowledge of the various elements involved in successful rehab. Which exercises will work for you will depend on the precise injury and a comprehensive screening process by your doctor. Hopefully, you now understand some of the goals of rehabilitation and can better appreciate the steps necessary to get on the road to recovery. Remember, always consult with your doctor whenever you suffer an injury and before beginning any rehabilitation process.

It was great to be in NH on June 19th and treat all of those patients that came into the office for the long weekend. I would like to say that if you are going to miss your appointment please call me on my office cell phone (518) 698-1616 or better yet send me a little text so that I can offer your appointment time to another patient. I know some people thought I would be back in a month and since it had only been 2 weeks people forgot or showed up on Sunday? lol. Please look for the emails and the phone calls for the reminder. Thank you!

It was excellent to see so many people at the Relay for Life in Rochester, NH. It's such a great event and so special to me since I know so many people there that are cancer survivors. Everyone did a great job and I'm so proud of those that stayed up and walked all night. Thanks for your texts at 2:00 am. lol

I want to let patients know that I have a new product in the office called Pain Terminator herb patches. They are a great way to aid with relief of pain by using this patch on the area of pain.  Look for them on my counter of the reception desk.

I would like to share a article that Dr. Channon Moon posted on her facebook page. It's a good article about aspertame. Click here to read the full article.

I would like to congratulate my cousin Mark and his wife Jamie on their newest little addition to our family Parker.

Please have a safe and fun 4th of July. Go have a great family picnic, spend time with friends, or go to the fireworks together. It's a holiday all about spending time with the ones you love. Enjoy and be safe.

May 30th 2009

Hello to everyone reading this. It's a great day out today and I'm hoping that everyone is feeling great. I'm at the office working this morning so I wanted to get on the blog and share some info for the up coming months.

The emails and phone calls have gone out for the summer visits to NH for the NH patients. Please look for the email and give me a call to book your appointments. This next visit is pretty much booked up especially Friday and Saturday morning times.  As you can read from the email there will be a closer visit coming up after this next one.

If anyone needs mild Sinus Buster I have finally gotten a hold of it. It's been a difficult challenge but I did receive some and I will bring them to NH on the next visit.

I sent out a email to patients both NH and NY that included a chart of various foods for ex. blueberrys and what they help with for ex. memory, fight cancer, help with your immune system. If you didn't receive it please let me know and I will forward that to you.

There is a dog show in Alplaus NY at the Firehouse on Sunday along with a number of vendors to celebrate the day. Go check it out.

I would like to congratulate my Martin cousins on their wedding today. I'm very happy for you both!

June is coming up and it's the most favorite month of the year for me because of so many reasons. For the NY patients I do have a calendar in the office where I have indicated which weeks I'll be in NH and which Saturdays I will be working.

Have a great day today and get outside and have some fun like go on a picnic with your family, go to the beach and enjoy the water, go geocaching if you love that, spend time with people who make you laugh-make you happy or do something random for someone today just because.  It all makes a difference in having a fulfilled-honest-happy-cherished life. There is so much to do and to see in this world so go do it!

May 1st 2009

I have sent out emails to the NH patients to let you know about the next visits in May and June. Please look for those emails. The May times went fast and now there is a waiting list going currently. If anyone needs me to bring Sinus Buster or any other supplement please let me know and I will do that for you.

I want to pass along this snipit I found that I found to be interesting. Exercise Your Brain: A study on mice conducted by researchers at the National Cheng Kung University Medical College (Taiwan) suggests exercise can reverse the age-related decline in the production of neural stem cells in the brain's hippocampus. The study, published in the Journal of Applied Physiology in November 2008, suggests exercise promotes the production of neurotrophic factors and receptors, which then promote the production and maturation of new stem cells. While exercise enhanced stem cell production and maturation in middle-age mice, researchers note that the strongest beneficial effect was seen in younger mice.

I hope everyone is doing well and surviving some of this stress caused by our economy and the sudden outbreak of the Swine Flu. For more information on the details of this from the CDC go to www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/. Please try to live your life and not be in total fear of this. If you look at our history this Swine Flu was around in the 70's as well. Life is meant to be lived.

Have a great day.

I would like to share a link to a great website for FITNESS FOR FUN
Strength, Speed, Agility and Conditioning Training.  Kevin Ryan the trainer explains on his website. "My program serves any person that is looking to develop, improve and/or focus on  building  self confidence with their own body, while enjoying the program we offer. We try to help them improve in many areas of each sport they participate in."

This is a excellent program to participate in. Check it out.

Their website is www.fitnessforfun.net/1.html or call Kevin at 518-424-6350.

April 20th

This last week was very busy and fun all at the same time with working in NH and then going on vacation in Maine. It was a great... great week and I thank all the NH patients for coming in last weekend and for those amazing friends we hung out with at the ocean. Such a great, fun, and special time we had, at such a beautiful place.

I will be sending out another email about the next visit to NH. Please look for that email soon. If you would like to book a appointment please email me back or you can call me at the office or contact me on facebook.

I would like to remind the NH patients that I am on with Medicare in that state now as well as with Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, and Harvard Pilgram.

For those of you in the NY office I am back from vacation.  My office hours are by appointment and include Monday through Wednesday and Friday. I remind everyone that I now accept credit cards. See the below update for the specifics. I also will not be taking Workers Compensation in New York. I can refer you to a chiropractor in the area that does.

Have a great day and remember to take time out of your busy stressful day to be calm, enjoy life or go to the ocean to reflect on your life.  It's so important in this life to spend time with your loved ones and laughing as much as you possibly can. It helps with your health in so many ways. Too many times people get into a rut or hold onto emotions that are not healthy for their bodies. Let them go and live your life with happiness. Live a true life I always say. It matters!!

March 16th 2009

Thank you to all the NH patients for this past long weekend. I did have a waiting list going again and wasn't able to use it because there were no cancellations. I also wanted to point out that I'm not taking new patients. I usually have this waiting list going and it's only fair that I offer it to the patients I have had in that office.

I want to let all the New York patients, potential patients know that I do accept Medicare in NY.

The biofeeze internet sale will go until the end of March. Please mention that you read this and you will get the sale price.

Hope all is going great with everyone reading this. I would like to send out a special Happy Birthday to Dianne who was my assistant in NH at that office. Happy Birthday!

I also wanted to remind everyone that I am still applying to the NY Medicare. I am on with the NH Medicare company.  The application process does take time and I will let everyone know when I am accepted.

Have a great day and remember to have fun, be true to yourself, and get adjusted to promote health.

Easing Arthritis Pain: Think Natural

Arthritis actually refers to more than 100 different diseases affecting areas in and around the joints, but regardless of which type you have, two things are fairly certain: Pain is an ongoing problem and drugs are an all-too-common treatment option. Why settle for drugs that come with potential side effects and adverse reactions when there are natural, nontoxic approaches to ease your arthritis pain? Here are a few simple suggestions to consider.

Moderate Activity: Regular exercise helps strengthen the muscles around your joints, increases flexibility and combats fatigue. Any movement can help, but range-of-motion exercises in particular seem to reduce joint stiffness and pain. The type of arthritis and the involved joints will determine which exercises are ideal and which may actually increase your pain.

Good Food: What you eat may play a role in reducing arthritis pain or doing just the opposite making the pain even worse. Some arthritis patients seem to experience relief when eating a nutritious, well-balanced diet (oily fish, fruits, vegetables and whole grains) and a flare-up when eating simple carbohydrates and fatty foods. Bananas, sweet peppers and soy products also may help.

Proper Body Mechanics: Body positioning during everyday movements can have a profound effect on joint stress and resulting pain. To minimize the stress on your joints throughout the day, maintain good posture, bend at the knees when picking things up, and ensure your work space provides adequate support for your neck, back, forearms and upper legs.

March 1st 2009

Thank you to all those NH patients for coming by the office. It was so good to see all of you. I just sent out another email to notify everyone of the next date I'll be back.  I also want to inform NH patients that I now accept Medicare again. So that's great news huh!

Some other great news is that I've been asked to join a great organization called Zonta International.  It's a organization founded in 1919 and is a global organization of executives and professionals working together to advance the status of women worldwide through service and advocacy. I feel very excited to be asked to join them and look forward to working on all their incredible projects. Check out their website here.

So many great things going on here. Let me know what great news is going on in your life. Thank you also for all those people who were sent messages my way in regard to my family member who had heart surgery. Thank you. I do appreciate it.

I also would like to thank The Chowder and Marching Society for always making me feel included. It was such a great time on Friday and it was because of all of you. Thanks!! I look forward to the next time I'm there in NH having dinner with all of you. I also need to thank Alicia and Ron from Benedicts for naming their one special after me! That was a riot!

Have a great weekend and please if you have any questions feel free to email me, call the office, text me or look me up on FB.  Isn't technology amazing these days?

Hello everyone reading the blog today. Hope all is going well with you and you're having a fun and interesting day.

I have sent out a email to NH patients telling them that I will be in NH to treat. The email details which date and times I will be there this coming month. There are some times left but just a few. So if you would like to have an appointment please email or call me at the office.

Since a lot of you have asked me about massage therapist in NH. As many of you know Roy is no longer doing massage therapy. I can recommend someone else if you would like. I recently was told about an excellent massage therapist who is out of Strafford. I will post her info on the link page as well when I get to my office.

I hope everyone is having a great day.

February 4th 2009

This is an article I found that I thought would be interesting for you. It's on perfect posture. Something we all try and work on.

If you don't have good posture, what do you have? Poor posture can lead to a variety of health problems over time, and yet too many people have bad postural habits. Let's focus for just a moment on the characteristic aspect of posture, the basic form we take while standing or walking. The human body is designed to stand with the eyes level with the horizontal plane of the Earth. Viewed from the front, the shoulders and hips are level and the spine is vertical. From the side view, the ear is over the shoulder, the shoulder is over the hip and the hip is over the knee, which is over the ankle. The most common signs of postural stress are one ear being higher than the other and unlevel shoulders or hips. You can also detect postural stress from the side if the ear looks as if it has moved forward of the tip of the shoulder or if the hips appear to have moved forward. The foundation of posture is actually the feet. It is very common for there to be slight differences in the arches of the feet, which create a slight imbalance. This imbalance can cause a chain reaction all the way up the spine, affecting postural balance. One sign of foot imbalances is when one foot flares out more than the other. Both feet should point forward with only the slightest outward flare when you walk. Here are a few things you can do to ensure ideal posture and correct any postural problems you may be experiencing: Get checked - If your posture is breaking down as a result of improper foot balance, it is important to have your feet examined to determine if a custom-made, flexible shoe orthotic will be beneficial. Orthotics create a solid foundation for your pelvis and spine by limiting excessive motion in the feet. Improve flexibility - This is important because postural stress causes some muscles to work harder than others, creating tension and stiffness. Mirror image exercises are stretching and strengthening exercises designed to restore muscle balance by stretching in the direction away from the postural imbalance. If you are looking in a mirror and one shoulder is higher than the other, you will want to stretch and strengthen in the direction that makes the shoulders level. The same concept works for the lower back. Work with your chiropractor - Be sure to work closely with your chiropractor in developing a plan of action, and then check your progress with a postural analysis. It is important to remember that the body works best when it is in balance, so that should be the goal of all of your stretching and strengthening exercises.

I hope everyone reading this really is careful with the ice outside walking and cold weather. Make sure your sure of where you step and try not to fight the fall on the ice if you unfortunately do fall. Fighting it sometimes does more damage and causes you more pain. If you do fall and are injured please remember to be adjusted to feel better and out of pain.

If you are looking to support your immune system please make sure you're taking enough vitamin C this time of year. It's a great support for your health and an easy way to fight colds etc.

As many of you know I have applied to Medicare and I'm currently waiting to hear back with my provider number.  I will let everyone know when this happens.

Have a great night and try and stay warm, have lots of fun, and remember what's most important in life...your health and your loved ones.

 January 10th 2008

As you can tell I got back to New York fine. The storm didn't hit where I was driving until the Berkshire Mountains. It's always crazy driving through there because you don't know what kind of weather is waiting for you. Thank you to everyone who textd me on the ride and called to see how I was. You're all so thoughtful and I will always appreciate how much you care.

So thank you to everyone who comes on here to read the news page and to find out what's going on. I always appreciate it and want this to be a place for all patients to find out the latest of what's happening at Latella Chiropractic. Remember to get your adjustments and to take care of your spine.

Have a great Sunday and remember to not over do it with shoveling with all of this snow.

January 7th 2008

Good morning to all on this freezing rain morning.  I was re-reading the list below from my post on Dr. Pausch.  I was thinking about each and every thing he had said. It's always inspiring and thought provoking to think about what he said and apply it to your own life.  I think we all need that in our life and especially the positive things we need to surround ourself with. It's important for your health and for a full life.
I think what he says really puts things in perspective and he will always have such a positive effect on anyone who takes what he says to heart.

I wish for everyone reading this more laughter and fun. I got this quote from off a great website click here and wanted to share it with you.

"The sound of roaring laughter is far more contagious than any cough, sniffle, or sneeze. Humor and laughter can cause a domino effect of joy and amusement, as well as set off a number of positive physical effects. Humor and laughter strengthen our immune systems and help us recover from illness, as well as bring joy into our lives. The question is, how do we gain access to this priceless medicine?

Surround yourself with people who make you happy, who support you no matter what happens, who make you laugh so hard you can't catch your breath is so important for your health.

Smile as much as you can because it really has an effect on anyone who is talking to you to increase Serotonin in the other persons body.  Great website for that click here

Have a great day and just think about what I have written on here. You can buy anything to try and make yourself happy, you can travel and do all kinds of things but if you don't have your health what do you have? If you don't have a great positive support system around you, what do you have?  Please keep your body healthy physically, mentally, and spiritually. Get adjusted and take care of your spirit.

Also I would like to wish a Happy Birthday to Deb, Heather & Larry, my mother, Steph (Ya Ya-!!) and to Linda. I wish all of you a great day on your special day!

January 2nd 2009

Here is something that one of my patients sent to me. Lets just call her "Leslie". I thought it was a good thing to put up for the new year. Some things to think about.  I think she sent it to me because it mentions Alaska in it. lol  We all know how much I love that state.   Have a great day.

25 TIPS FOR A BETTER LIFE - 2009

 1. Take a 10-30 minute walk every day.  And while you walk, smile.  It is the ultimate anti-depressant.

2. Sit in silence for at least 10 minutes each day.  Buy a lock if you have to.

3. When you wake up in the morning complete the following statement, 'My purpose is to __________ today.'

4. Eat more foods that grow on trees and plants and eat less food that is manufactured in plants.

5. Drink green tea and plenty of water.  Eat blueberries, wild Alaskan salmon, broccoli, and almonds.

6. Try to make at least three people smile each day.

7. Don't waste your precious energy on gossip, energy vampires, issues of the past, negative thoughts or things you cannot control.  Instead invest your energy in the positive present moment.

8.  Eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a college kid with a maxed out charge card.

15. No one is in charge of your happiness except you.

16. Frame every so-called disaster with these words: 'In five years, will this matter?'

17. Forgive everyone for everything.

24. Remember that you are too blessed to be stressed.

25. Sometimes writing the words you love someone just isn't enough but taking the proper steps with your behavior is a good start.

December 31st 2008

Well this will be the last entry for 2008 as tonight is New Years Eve and tomorrow will be a New Year. I wish everyone reading this, a happy and safe New Years Eve. It's always been a special night for me since I have such incredible memories of celebrating with all of the Tara friends of ours in NH. I wish all of you a great night but I know you will enjoy every moment of it.

I would like to say congratulations to Dr. Moon on her new addition to her family, a beautiful baby girl.  What a great Christmas present!

Just a reminder we are having a sale on Biofreeze this coming month. Our roll ons are regular price $13.00 but on sale for $10.00.  Just mention seeing this on our website to get the sale price.

Well with whatever you wish for the New Year of 2009 I hope that you remember to take care of your health, make sure to have fun with everything you do, let go of the stress you keep within your muscles and body and always keep in touch with your close friends and family.  Be kind, be honest, be forgiving, be empathetic, be truthful... to everyone you meet and with all the people in your life. Be the best person you can be in this life-only you can make that happen.

As I always say..do something totally unexpected and kind for someone you know or don't know. Show your spirit in how you act and with what you choose to do in your life. Happy New Year!

I just got back from an excellent seminar given by Dr. Dobbins. It was on The Minerals; The missing link in Clinical Nutrition.  It was an excellent seminar and I expect nothing less from Dr. Dobbins.

Some of the main points I would like to go over is as follows.  He talked a lot about calcium, Iodine, Magnesium, Manganese, Zinc and Copper to name a few.

I have gone over the benefits of Iodine before but I would like to list what are some of the functions of Iodine.

1. Making thyroid hormones
2. Main body surveillance mechanism for abnormal cells
3. Trigger cell death in both normal and abnormal cells
4. Antiseptic to bacteria, algae, fungi, viruses, and protoza
5. detoxifies biological toxins, food poisoning etc
6. antiseptic activity in stomach against bacteria like helicobacter pylori
7. anti-allergic; makes external proteins no allergic

So the ones I've listed are pretty important and think about if you don't have enough iodine in your body. The thyroid is not functioning properly and the other functions of Iodine are suffering.

Please ask me for more information on it if you're interested.

I will put more up on the site for the other minerals soon.

Have a great day.

I found another really great YouTube video of Dr. Randy Pausch speaking at a graduation. I totally relate to what he says in that speak. Check it out here.

August 8th 2008

I would like to share with all of you today, August 8th, something that inspires me and should inspire you too. Some of you may have heard of Dr. Randy Pausch a professor at Carnegie Mellon who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He gave his last lecture there called "the last lecture" a series they do and it's very interesting and inspiring. He just passed away on July 25th 2008.

Here are some of his quotes from this lecture he gave and please watch the lecture on YouTube if you can I'll include the link below. The 1 hour lecture is so much better than if you saw him on Oprah. On Oprah they cut that lecture down and made it too serious.

I in particular think that number 6 and 13 are very important for everyone to think about. Especially 6 in that if you want something bad enough in your life whether it's a certain career path, a dream that you want to achieve, resolving things with someone in your life, that you do whatever it takes to do it and get through that brick wall.

I also think that his number 1 is my favorite. He has so many good points in looking at life that people should really take to heart and learn from now not later. This is a man who was dying and had 3 small children and a wife. He is seeing life for what it is and what it should be about.  Like my Dad who passed away years ago he only wanted to focus on his family and his loved ones first and fore most. Tell people who you love how you feel about them and don't wait.

I know some of you have already heard of Dr. Randy Pausch but, I wanted to share this on my blog with you because I felt it was inspiring and thought provoking.

What's important to you? to your life? Think about it and reflect!

I wanted to show how I use the ArthroStim instrument on a patient in my office. It's a very effective and gentle tool for adjusting the spine and even can be used to do muscle work on a patient.

For anyone with questions about the instrument please email me and I would be happy to discuss it with you.

I've uploaded some new pictures of the office on the contact page. As many of you have seen I changed the look of the office with regard to the arrangement of the reception desk. I love change and creating a new atmosphere to a space. Many of you know me and know that I love to re-arrange things all the time. You never know what you're going to see when you come into the office.

Check them out and let me know what you think.

Have a great weekend!

I would like to let everyone know that I have now added a new machine to my tool bag for treating patients. As many of you know I use a diversified hands on approach typically for a chiropractic treatment. I have been also known to use the activator instrument at times for certain situations and now I added to my office the ArthroStim.

The ArthroStim® instrument allows the doctor tremendous control over all adjustment variables. The ArthroStim® produces a succession of rapidly repeating, high velocity-low amplitude thrusts. The power of the thrusts can be changed from mere ounces of force, up to 40 pounds of thrusting force.

This means a gentle feeling for the patient and more specific adjusting similar to the activator for the patient. It's a great tool for me to have in the office.  Please make an appointment today to have me adjust you with the ArthroStim.

The next emails have gone out for the next months visit. Please look for your email and let me know if you would like to come in for an adjustment.

For the New York patients please call me or stop in for an adjustment with the ArthroStim.  It's gentle, effective, and gives amazing results.

Have a great day!

Sinus Buster in China

This is a really great move for SiCap makers of Sinus Buster. Really interesting
article.

America's trade deficit with China has been a hot topic on the 2008 presidential campaign trail, but the tide appears to be turning thanks to consumer demand for healthcare products made in the United States. SiCap Industries, a natural medicine manufacturer in upstate New York has already begun producing Chinese versions of their products aimed at a variety of health categories. SiCap specializes in natural remedies using Capsaicin, the chemical responsible for the thermal heat of hot peppers. The company is best known for their flagship brand "Sinus Buster", billed as the world's first hot pepper nasal spray and sold in thousands of North American retailers.

"SiCap is paving the way for a new trade relationship with state sponsored Chinese pharmaceutical distributors. The market is huge for American medicines in China, but in order to launch a successful product you've got to package it with cultural differences in mind. That means Chinese and English language labeling along with the right colors and marketing concepts. By partnering with Chinese companies to create successful branding, we're forcing the market to open bigger and faster for all U.S. healthcare companies," says Wayne Perry, president of SiCap Industries, LLC.

SiCap recently inked a deal with Yin Po Global Media to distribute a Chinese version of their Sinus Buster product line. The company is packaging their exclusive formulas for Yin Po's new brand "Bye Bye Sinus", the first capsaicin nasal sprays available in China. The product line includes nasal sprays aimed at a variety of categories including pain relief, sinus & allergy, weight loss, menstrual health and cough & cold. The plan is to distribute Bye Bye Sinus in supermarkets, health food shops and big box department stores throughout China's largest cities.

Each Chinese product is produced in SiCap's FDA registered facility. According to Wayne Perry, it was important for Yin Po to have products with National Drug Code numbers as proof of American quality for Chinese consumers.

"It's a great partnership because SiCap can make quality products at a good price, and Yin Po can expand the market and branding in China. Because Yin Po is in China, they can also work directly with the SFDA and the trademark and patent offices to protect the brand so we can get a solid foothold in the Chinese market," says Perry.

As China's consumer base of 1.3 billion people continues to grow economically, the demand for American products is skyrocketing. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, America's goods and services deficit with China decreased nearly 4 percent from $23.8 billion in July to $22.5 billion in August. This is a significant decline for any single month period, a trend SiCap Industries is working hard to sustain.

A recent study by TNS, an international market research firm confirms Chinese consumers are clamoring for American made health care products at unprecedented rates. According to the study, 30% of consumers are demanding health care products made exclusively in the USA.

Many experts believe Chinese consumers are replacing their distrust for health products made in China with a new thirst for American made brands. Worldwide media exposure has recently pressured China into addressing the issues of counterfeit drugs, unregulated medicines and hazardous products. In July, China executed Zheng Xiaoyu, the former head of its State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA). Zheng was sentenced to death for taking bribes to approve substandard medicines including an antibiotic blamed for atleast a dozen deaths. While the new leaders of the SFDA have vowed to address internal problems, many Chinese citizens have completely lost faith in domestic healthcare products.

As China struggles to overcome enormous public health issues due to pollution and overcrowding, consumers are in dire need of over the counter medicines, particularly in the sinus, allergy and headache categories. With the first shipments of Bye Bye Sinus already on their way to China, SiCap Industries is projecting a 600% increase in overseas sales for 2008 which could boost total company revenues by more than 100%.

Tonight Monday Night 10pm CNBC "The Big Idea" with Donny Deutsch

If you want to hear all about Sinus Buster and the inventor of it, Wayne Perry.  He's going to be on the The Big Idea tonight with Donny Deutsch.

I myself always watch this show because Donny asks the questions you would want to ask. My brother Scott Latella was the person who arranged for Wayne to be on the show and I couldn't be more proud of him.

He's going to talk about the origin of Sinus Buster and I'm sure about all the great product lines he's developed. It should be a great show to watch!!

It was great seeing a lot of you this past weekend. I had the best weekend indeed!  Thank you again for a VERY funny evening on Saturday night. I can't believe that many people came out to Slims. All of you are just the best!

Thank you goes to the 2nd floor gang who took their first road trip to the tolls for Brad! That was the funniest night I've had in a very long time.

Have a wonderful day.

I wanted to pass along a great website I found for those of you who suffer from thyroid problems. The website is
 http://www.thyroid-info.com/news/april2007.htm.

As many of you know I am very interested in the thyroid gland because as a chiropractor you have to look at the whole body. Patients come into my office who are suffering with muscle cramping and joint pain along with fatigue. Some of those patients ended up having a low functioning thyroid. The thyroid gland is extremely important in the body for metabolism.

The thyroid is one of the largest endocrine glands in the body. This gland is found in the neck just below the Adam's apple. The thyroid controls how quickly the body burns energy, makes proteins, and how sensitive the body should be to other hormones. The thyroid participates in these processes by producing thyroid hormones, principally thyroxine (T4) and triiodothyronine (T3). These hormones regulate the rate of metabolism and affect the growth and rate of function of many other systems in the body. Iodine is an essential component of both T3 and T4. The thyroid also produces the hormone calcitonin, which plays a role in calcium homeostasis.I have seen a lot of patients in my practice that are told their thyroids are fine. The lab work came back normal but in all honestly they are suffering with symptoms of a low functioning thyroid.

More specific tests need to be done and some doctors aren't aware of these test in order to ask for them for their patients. I'm not a MD basher by any means but we all need to keep up with current research and updated labs. The doctors should look at decreasing the persons symptoms and not be looking at a lab test only that may come within the normal range.

That person needs to take action and take their temperature. That's the first thing I tell my patients is to look at how their temperature is.  If it's below 98.6 and always in the 97.0's look to the thyroid. If their skin is dry and flaky and if they are constipated with muscle aches and pains look to the thyroid.
If anyone wants to ask more questions about thyroid please don't hesitate to contact me or even check out www.thyroidpower.com.  This site is excellent at explaining thyroid issues and is run by a MD who has studied thyroid for over 25 years.

Have a great !
